Don't take it personally

Whatever happens around you, don't take it personally.  Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of themselves. Even when a situation seems so personal,  it has nothing to do with you. What they say, what they do,  and the opinions they give are projections of their own  internal thoughts. Everyone has their own reality. When  we take something personally, we make the assumption that they know what is in our reality. When we take  something personally, we make the assumption that they  know what is in our reality, and we try to impose our  reality onto theirs. When we don't take things personally, if gives us more power over our thoughts, feelings, and  actions. When we don't take things personally, we  recognize the individuality of others and we can accept  that other people are different from us. We have little control over how others view us and relate to us. We  have more control over how we respond to...

Less Me

Most of my life has been spent trying to shrink myself. Trying to become smaller. Quieter. Less sensitive. Less opinionated. Less needy. Less me. Because I didn't want to be a burden. I didn't want to be too much or push people away. I wanted  people to like me. I wanted to be cared for and valued. I wanted to be wanted. So for years, I sacrificed myself for the sake of making other people happy. And for years, I suffered. But I'm tired of suffering, and I'm done shrinking. It's not my job to change who I am in order to become someone else's ides of a worthwhile human being. I am worthwhile. Not because other people think I am, but because I exist, and therefore I matter. My thoughts matter. My feelings matter. My voice matters. And with or without anyone's permission or approval, I will continue to be who I am and speak my truth. Even if it makes people angry. Even if it makes them uncomfortable. Even if they choose to leave. I choose honor my feelings. I...

LEARN TO SEE

Image
The most attractive thing about you should have less to do with your face and body, and more to do with your heart and how you treat other people. Let's face it, we see an appearance first and have our first impression based on an appearance. Our appearance is where we can hide behind. But an appearance does not say anything about a character. Nowadays it seems that we judge each other on our appearance, who we are and what we stand for does not seem to matter. No effort is made to get to know the person behind an appearance. It is our own mental attitude which makes the world what it is for us. Our thoughts make things beautiful, our thoughts make things ugly. Not our eyes. The whole world is in our minds. Learn to see things in prop...

IF

If If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream- and not make dreams your master; If you can think-and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn ...

Date Night

Image
I met the moon for coffee it was Tuesday night I think when he watched me hardly sleeping and invited me for drinks we found ourselves a table in the middle of the night whilst the constellations twinkled like a thousand fairy lights he asked me how I'd been as he poured coffee from a pot and he said he'd watched me waking up at midnight quit a lot I said my head was far too full my mind was always on and when I woke, it felt as if I was the only one the only one who watched the moon whilst sitting on my bed with thoughts that raced at lightning speed around my busy head the only one who watched the clock tick one and two and three who lay awake and worried whilst the world was fast asleep my thoughts remained in orbit and I couldn't pull them back as they preferred to swim against a sky so vast and black the moon said sim...

I want to know you

Image
I want to know you. I want to hear about your interests,  Your favorite things, your problems, your thoughts. I want to see the pale blue of your eyes up close, glimmering as you speak softly and carelessly. I want to be the reason behind your smile, rendering me speechless as dimples appear upon your cheeks. I want to be the one to sing along to the radio with you, laughing as we try to hit all of the notes on key. I want to hold your hand, for hours upon hours, never letting go. I want to wake up to your raspy morning voice, watching as you wipe the sleep from your eyes. I want to be the one to touch your soft lips with mine, hearing your breath catch in your throat as you move closer. I want to run my hands through your soft hair, detangling the blond mess and smiling as you close your eyes. I want to be the one to hold you close late at night, when your demons come out to haunt you. I want to wipe your tears away, when the thoughts become too much to handle. I want to lay...

Willing to look at yourself

Image
It took me a very long time to discover myself in a way that I can express myself, my thoughts and visions. Is there anyone reading this? Can I really reach you with my words? Do I make a difference? That remains a question, but I like to try. And this is why: Along the way I found out what works and what doesn't work for me. I know my low points, my weaknesses and I know better than anyone how I work. As I always say, and it is and remains a cliché, treating another as you would like to be treated yourself is the key. Unfortunately, I cannot control how someone else thinks, how they treat me and in what situations that has brought me. A lot has happened so that I have lost hope often enough, confidence has been damaged and I have often stood on the brink of collapse. Yet with time and awareness I have found my way ...

Can't Help Myself

Image
I'm not supposed to want you; I'm not supposed to care, and yet I spend my time dreaming of all that we could share. I'm not supposed to think about you or wonder where you've been, but no matter how I fight it, thoughts of you sneak in. I'm not supposed to ponder where you are each night, but you creep into my vision when the stars shine bright. I'm not supposed to yearn so, always wishing you were here, but I hunger for your kisses, and I long to draw you near. I'm not supposed to imagine where you are and what you do. I know I shouldn't cater to a single thought of you. I'm not supposed to need you. I know these things. I do. And yet I can't help myself, because I fell in love with you.

Battles Within

Image
She screamed silence, Spilled her anger with ink, She was tired , tired enough, To say the words and think. She fails to gasp the words, Drowning in her anxieties, Trying to understand her scrambled thoughts, Battling with her insecurities. She was slowly losing herself, On the way to find her own, Finding no one around her, She was suffocating , being alone. They were too blind to see, What demons she was fighting, She was torn aprt, and trying to be strong, As she was tired of hiding.

The Special One

Image
I want to be, special for someone. So that I never feel alone- Two arms holding me tight, And forever keep me close. I want to find the missing colors, For my life is black and white. Someone crawling in my thoughts When I try to sleep at night. I want to find the wandering feet That with mine will walk the world. Someone warm against my skin When the winter nights are cold. And forever keep me close Two arms holding me tight, So that I never feel alone- I want to be, Your special one.
