she asked him how he'd done it how he'd built marshmallow towns how he'd met a little poor boy who was destined for the crown she asked him how he know about the language fairies speak and how he'd caught a shooting star that now was his to keep she asked him how he'd touched the clouds without a pair of wings and how he'd heard the music of a chestnut tree that sings she asked him how he'd swum right to the bottom of the sea and how he'd watched a mountain cry and heard the sunshine speak she found it all a mystery he breathed the air she breathed but he breathed out tales of distant lands and things she'd never seen and she saw a world of wonder when she looked up-close at him and when he spoke his words flowed like a poem on the wind he told her that it hadn't been some wings that helped him fly and it had...

A Billion Dreams

Image
you know how the night sky holds billions of stars burning and shining whenever it's dark? well, what if I told you it's not as it seems? that they're actually billions and billions of dreams and each, every night when you climb into bed the dreams that you have all float out of your head up past the trees and then up through the clouds up to the night without making a sound they meet with the moon and get ready to shine finding their place in the indigo sky and that's where they watch from that's where they wait until it's their moment their time and their place some stars are tiny and some stars are huge see, if the star's big then the dream must be too the irony though is that when we are small our dreams are the greatest and wildest of all then as we get bigger our dreams start to shrink our stars begin fading as we overthink...

High Flight

Image
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter- silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed , and joined the tumbling mirth of sun- split clouds, - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air... Up, up the long , delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-wept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew- And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod The high untrespasses sanctity of space, -put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Unsaid goodbyes

Image
the sun is setting and i can't see it because the clouds are in the way. but that's okay. you've already shown me the fear of when something beautiful disappears. without a goodbye, without knowing why. i try to see through-to the sun, to you. but you're clouded with pride. you hide until you fade from view. it's true that goodbyes are painful. but now you must explain to my heart why you had to depart and take away your warmth and your light. i fight the darkness every night, and i wish i was brave, but i am afraid that the sun will never rise. it wasn't wise to give you so much power over me. you see, now there's not enough left to generate electricity. and i'm scared and stumbling in the clod but i'm told that my body will adjust. it must. it's just learnt not to trust.

Chance

Image
If you looked in the corners, You'd find her right there, Hidden by darkness, And the curls in her hair, Her nose in a book,  With her head in the clouds, Hiding her feelings, Away from the crowds, If you sat by her side, While the world passes you by She'd tell you the story, Behind the pain in her eyes, I you gave her five minutes, You'd see how her smile, Makes even the bad things In life seen worthwile, But you don't look in corners, You don't even glance, So she sit there still waiting, To be given a chance.

I love to sit in silence

Image
I love to sit in silence Beneath the shady trees And listen to the song of birds And to the buzz of bees.             I love to sit in silence And watch the clouds roll by Then read a book or sing a song And hear the wild bird cry. I love to sit in silence When the day is almost done And see behind the distant hill The paint glow of the sun. I love to sit in silence In the evening twilight And listen to the whippor- will Singing with all its might I love to sit in silence Beneath the starry sky And pray to all in earnest To Live in silence all the while.
